Sermon 1: Arba’een can turn into a global movement against tyrann
I invite you and myself towards Taqwa and emphasize you to live your lives in accordance with Taqwa and establish your lives on the foundations of Taqwa. It is the divine plan and system from Allah for the protection of every dimension and filed of human lives. If man abandons the manifesto of life that is religion then his humanly life gets destroyed and life becomes beastly. Similarly if man abandons the protection system of Taqwa then man forgoes his humanly life in the same way. The Quran has mentioned such communities who have lived their lives without religion hence got adulterated, lost their humanity and became victim of divine wrath. Similarly the communities who abandoned Taqwa their lives also got destroyed and the biggest evidence for this is the current generation under various titles. In some places they live under title of Muslims and somewhere non-Muslims but practically both their lives are same without religion and Taqwa. When a generation who has got religion, nurtured on Taqwa , who have teachers, preachers of Taqwa within them and have guided this community but the day they left religion, abandoned Taqwa they developed beastliness. The most horrifying example of this is the status of Muslims around the 60 and 61 Hijri where Muslims were present who took the name of religion but the religious values, principles were not seen in their lives. They deliver outwardly rituals but do not live their lives on values, similarly they leave Taqwa then even if they are human beings they turn into beasts. When human life turns into beasts, flock of animals then to make him return to human life is difficult. Sayadus Shohada (a.s) did the same thing for the Muslims who were namesake ritualistic Muslims but the beastliness that developed inside them cannot be even narrated by history. Those whom Sayadus Shohada (a.s) was inviting towards religion, servitude of Allah and their beastliness carries a manifested status in history. These beastly human beings incurred big losses and the cost that had to be paid the Ahlulbayt (a) are all presented, introduced, connected us to a school according to which we are ordered to live our lives and that is the School of Ashura and Karbala.
Karbala today has turned into rituals by most of those who are related to Karbala. Their beliefs and distance from Karbala has given birth to another group who are traders, professionals who have played to establish their livings on the passions of people regarding Karbala. At present this great event of Ashura has become the ground of these traders and they are taking commercial benefits from the beliefs of people.
One topic related to Karbala is Arbaeen of Imam Hussain (a) and martyrs of Karbala. This topic is not exclusive to Imam Hussain (a.s) because for every death within Shias the Arbaeen (Chehlum) is done for their deceased related to the 40 days and even Ahle Sunnah do Khatme Quran or some other program. Some schools object on what is the Shariah status of this act, whether there is an order or Seerah for the Arbaeen of dead, whether the Prophet has done this. Then those who do this present counter argument to deny this objection. This turns into an argument and some spend their full energy to present Shariah justification of this act. Like someone dies, then the third day of Soyam is whether found in Fiqh or not? Or the 10th day, 40th day or the annual anniversary. Since these are the acts of Muslims then for every act the Shariah order should be present hence we should be aware about the Shariah order before doing it. This is an argument that stands in its own place.
The Arbaeen of Sayadus Shohada (a.s) which is going on since long time , whereby the 20th Safar is commemorated with this title. There are some historic narrations present whereby what happened on this day, like the captives of Karbala return on this day to Karbala. But what is most discussed is about the Jabir Ansari (r.a) that he went for Ziarat on the day of Arbaeen. This is also historic whether he went on the 40th day or some other day is unclear, though he went for Ziarat is confirmed. This act which believers do as Aza of Imam Hussain (a) , that is Ashura and then Arbaeen are not based on historic facts. Instead there are two established orders which carry Shariah authentication in Shia school, one is Ziarat of Imam Hussain and second is Aza of Imam Hussain. The Ahlulbayt (a) have ordered to do this and they have themselves done the Aza and Ziarat of Imam Hussian (a.s). These are the two foundations whether it is Ashura, Muharram, Arbaeen. But these days which have become exclusive there might be some historic narrations but mostly these are the choices of believers to do these things on these days. Like on Arbaeen people walk from Najaf to Karbala which has been ongoing since long by the scholars of Najaf. Some scholars used to walk to Karbala in the past and not the people. In the chapter of ziarat there are narrations present about walking to do Ziarat of Sayadus Shohada (a.s) but from what location is not present in the narrations. There is always some common-sense present with such narrations. It is that sense which is not required to be learnt and that common sense is that whatever is your capacity your responsibility are in accordance with that. Quran also says that man is obliged for duties in accordance to his capacity. Specifically in Mustahabat there is more ease.
The significance of ziarat and Aza of Sayadus Shohada (a.s) is presented in one of our Book “Ashura ba Unwane Maktab” (The School of Ashura) which is actually the philosophy of Ziarat of Imam Hussain (a). Ashura , Karbala is a manifesto of training, nurturing hence it is a school. In this book all the traditions related to the ziarat of Imam Hussain (a.s) from Imams are presented and then elaboration is done on why such emphasis is laid on the ziarat of Imam Hussain (a.s). Many other scholars have also discussed about this topic and the best person who has opened this topic is Martyr Motahari (r.a) who has given such importance to Ziarat. Some jurists have mentioned about the narrations about Ziarat of Imam Hussain being so much in abundance and emphasis is so high that it looks like it is obligatory. They did not issue any verdict because the Jurists do not rely on the purpose, philosophy and only depend on narrations hence they did not issue any verdict. If they would have kept the purpose in mind then they might have given verdict of being obligatory.
Similarly Aza means mourning and atmosphere in grief. Anything that is effective in grief which could be the mention about Imam Hussain (a.s) and martyrs of Karbala are done. It is emphasized from Imams to discuss and mention, speak about Imam Hussain (a.s). The same purpose of Ziarat is there for Azadari as well. Ziarat is of two types; one is to visit the shrine of Imam Hussain (a) and if you cannot go there then you can recite the Ziarat remotely as well. We consider Ziarat as visiting Shrine whereas the order is to do Ziarat of Imam and not the grave. And ziarat of Imam can be done from anywhere or any such act which is resemblance of Ziarat, which means believer gets connected with Imam in such a way that he is seeing Imam and Imam sees him. The way Imam Hussain (a.s) has taught us that make us like this as if I am seeing you. And at least get me into a state of feeling that you are seeing me. This certainty takes man into a different state. If you go in isolation, in your room where no one watches you behave in a different manner, when you are in front of your teacher in class, your behavior is different, and the place where you are certain that no one significant is seeing you , your behavior changes. If man goes in the presence of Allah in such a manner that either I am seeing Allah and if not then at least Allah is seeing me then he becomes disciplined.
If you have visited the shrine of Prophets, Imams and have seen the mosque, walls, the gold bars on shrine than this is not the ziarat of Prophet,. The meaning of Ziarat of Prophet is to see the Prophet and not the mosque. If we are going for the Ziarat of Prophet, then looking at the grave is not the Ziarat of Prophet. Hence this Ziarat of Imams and Prophet is not necessary to be present, hence this arrangement is made for us to do from far off as well. This Ziarat is a journey of cognizance (Mari ‘fat), certainty. If you reach this level of certainty that the Prophet is my guide, then your state would be that I am always in the presence of Prophet then man gets reformed himself that I came in the presence of Prophet and Imam Hussain (a.s). Why should we be present in the presence of Imam Hussain (a.s)?
One general philosophy is for rewards (Thawaab) which has made the religion purposeless and importance of religion has gone. Religion, ziarat, hajj, Majalis, Aza are for rewards and that also bounties of paradise like meat, milk, fruits and Houries. This has made religion in the eyes of people as not practicable. Certain narration say that you will be given more rewards then promised and for punishment you will get what is being told. The limits of rewards is not fixed, but rewards are not purpose of religion it is for attracting immature people towards religion. The parents give toys to children so that they are attracted. We are also immature. Amirul Momineen (a) says that I do not worship Allah for the sake of paradise or hell, I do it out of Mari ‘fat, since I have found you then it is necessary for me to worship you and become your servant. My purpose is my lord and not rewards. For Ziarat as well the rewards are for attraction. If you cover the physical distance , go there and come back you will get rewards, but still ziarat is not done if you have not found Imam. If you go there and return back 100 times as well then also it is not Ziarat. To make human being sensible, to develop humanity these two academic syllabus of Ziarat and Azadari has been presented. But when the purpose of these two did not become clear , they have become commercial. We cannot do Azadari without money today. For Salat we don’t need money, the worship of Allah does not need money similarly for Aza as well we should not need money. Since the purpose of Azadari was not manifested the traders turned it into business. Similarly the Ziarat also the fraudsters came out into field and turned Ashura from being a school into a business entity.
Imam Khomeini is that personality who made Muslims understand the philosophy of Ashura. One category became attentive towards that purpose and after that changes have come. The ritualistic Azadari and Ziarat has become separate from visionary Azadari and is moving towards becoming purposeful from being commercial. The big example of this is the shape of Arbaeen that has turned since last few years seems that purpose of Ziarat and Aza seems to be close though it has not reached there. It will happen when those scholars, intellectuals who understand the purpose of all this, take control of this field then this act of Ziarat and Aza of Sayadus Shohada (a.s) will turn into that direction and is happening. But if they also start to do Ziarat and Aza through traders then this will also turn towards traders and politicians.
The enemies make all efforts to stop and fail this gathering of Arbaeen, and they do all possible things but fail every time. This year also they did such acts before Arbaeen in Iraq but they again failed. The believers all desire to reach Karbala by walking from Najaf to Karbala and is an esteemed act. There are various people who come from various countries where many traders get involved to use it for their benefits. Some religious people use it for their own objectives. There is a serious orientation to turn this towards commercial and political purpose. They create big challenges for those people who want to bring this Aza towards the purpose of Imam Hussain, like those who are revolutionary people. They straiten things for them.
This Arbaeen is a great example and will one day turn into a movement which Sayadus Shohada (a.s) started. At present Arbaeen and Ziarat is for the sake of rewards and the atmosphere is made for services like massage, food, etc. and pilgrims return and talk about these only. Though providing services is good for pilgrims and currently this event remains at this stage but eventually it will turn into a movement towards global oppression and tyranny. The enemies know this very well but since believers are trapped by traders and politicians, and are not attentive that this Arbaeen is a global movement towards global tyranny.
The local Majalis, programs should also be directing towards local tyranny and profession. This sense has been given by the Islamic revolution but the traders have taken the ground in their own hands. The revolutionaries also got impressed by them and became their followers. The way it happened in Nigeria whereby the Shias in infancy became manifested. The Nigeria Shias have leader only as Ayatullah Khamenei ,but for the Shias of Pakistan there are 1000 Mujtahids. The Nigerian Shias are not confused, they know what is Azadari, Karbala but the Shias of Pakistan are in the hands of various calamities of orator’s scholars whereas the Nigerians are pure. There also the MI6 preachers, activists reaching Nigeria but till date they are secure. But Pakistan, India are in the traps of Britain since long. We can do much better, we can polish our Shias and make it purely Aza and Ziarat of Hussaini. The local Aza should be against local oppression and the global Aza should be against global oppression. Then they get connected. Whatever is happening there is happening in one village of Pakistan. This is the how ground of the reappearance of Imam gets prepared. The Azadari is the method of establishing Imamat but it needs sense which comes from Karbala. The Ziarat and Aza of Imam Hussain (a.s) is for the same purpose of Hajj. The Hajj is to practice, learn the mode of Ibrahim similarly Ziarat and Azadari are to practice the role model of Imam Hussain (a.s). The Hajj, Ziarat have the same purpose. The heart of Hajj is to dissociate from Taghoot which is not allowed in hajj as it has become commercial. There is not a single fatwa about the spirit of Hajj in Quran apart from Imam Khomeini (R.a), similarly the soul of Hussaini is not seen in Azadari. Those who have this duty to do this, they should do and some are doing despite of all obstacles. Everyone knows who has done this and they will keep it established but others also should deliver their duties.
SECOND SERMON
Sermon 2: Food victims are martyrs of crimes of capitalists and politicians
We can see the life without Taqwa is besieged in this country under politics, scholars, guides, rulers, economy and people all without Taqwa. You can see how insecure the lives are there and we can see inhuman scenes every day. In this the current crisis of floods is the biggest calamity in the history of Pakistan even though calamities have come. But the current crisis its the biggest of all and the proofs of this are given by all including the visit of UN chief. He said that I have not seen a bigger Tsunami then this. The UN chief has seen various calamities in the world but he says I have seen the damage done by the crisis in Pakistan is most high. The Pakistani’s still do not believe in this.
I remember the earthquake of 2005, when thousands were buried under ground, but for two days the nation was not aware. Musharraf gave a TV speech that the earthquake has not caused any damage and only one building in Islamabad sector fell down and no other damage was done. The head of this department said that after two days Japan informed us that North Pakistan is completely buried. Since NATO was present in Pakistan their tools were used. And now also this is a shameful criminal act done in Pakistan and first politicians, then media are responsible. Such devilish politicians have come in Pakistan that they are not even allowing people to know about the losses. The flood is increasing and in Sindh there is severity coming in the water of rivers. The most oppressed is Baluchistan where no one is aware about it. They were as such living inhuman lives based on their situations. Then flood came and their even small huts and livestock got destroyed. Who is helping them? There are such areas where even initial help has not reached. In Sindh there is a lot of damage and roads are blocked , it will take long time and efforts to get back life to normal. This can happen if Pakistan gets relieved from these Khannas. They are only creating issues to distract people from the floods. The figures are just estimations from officers sitting in office who are presenting figures from internet. When the roads open then you will see the estimate. They say 30 million but at least 50 million have been impacted. One columnists used the term Martyrs of Flood who were 1400 drowned in water. They are martyrs because the flood was the outcome of crimes done by capitalist countries, who are themselves saying and the international scientists are saying that they have changed the environment of earth due to their industrialization. This is a crime.
The second crime is done inside Pakistan as to why there was no arrangement for disaster management even though the country sees heavy monsoons every year. There is not even single a disaster management depot and not even a single blanket was kept anywhere, or any method to control flood. These are all criminals and it is their crimes which has resulted into this. The politicians are begging for help and they are asking the developed countries to compensate this. They will continue their crimes by generating poisonous gases. The America, Europe, China are producing such gases and they are criminals. They have broken all the pacts for climate control as it effects industrialization. When you have not done any arrangement to control flood and then no support, recovery mechanism is present than this is a crime. You should file a case in international courts for this destruction. The Pakistan politicians do not have this sense or courage to file a court case. They file a case on Pakistan. Today there is time for Pakistan to file case on all these 27 industrial countries who are producing such dangerous gases.
The politicians of Pakistan who did not make arrangement should be also filed with cases. But where? The judges are involved in these crimes so where will you go ? Today in the news it is there, the two judges of Supreme court have regretted on the statement of Chief justice. The judiciary knows that the current Chief Justice is not eligible , why this Chief Justice has not taken any notice of the floods. They enter those fields to weaken the country but the court is not questioning about the budget allocated for disaster management every year. They should file cases and prosecute them by hanging them in the same flood effected area. They are responsible for the dismantling of these 50 million people. The houses of all these responsible politicians and bureaucrats should be ruined. They start cricket and show live coverage of Queens funeral, they show her dogs, shoes and show foolish things to community. You bring down the flag of Pakistan on the death of an enemy, shame and curse on you that you are doing all this for those who have looted you , made you slaves, created discord. Now also Britain is doing the same, they have made HQ for Shias in Britain, and they have made scholars sit there to cause Fitna across the world and for them you are becoming grievous? Why the flag was not taken down for the flood’s victim of 1400 deaths? Why you did you not declare a week of grief for flood victims. These devil politicians who are doing gatherings while the country is drowned. The media is focusing all their efforts on these Satan’s and not on flood victims. This is a bigger calamity then flood.
The Arbaeen, Ashura is the field of sense that has awakened our conscience. We should not become dead heart person and not come under the trap of media. Our nation has been drowned these victims are part of our body. We are ourselves in this calamity. Leave the Satans of politics, media and traders. We should come out in field. They will eat away of all the global aid. The way the aids are coming the cabinet is growing and 70 ministers have come in cabinet are all for looting their share from these aids. Show us which global aid has reached the people? It is private organization and army doing it but where is global aid reaching?
We are doing whatever we can do for just making people attentive. People have cooperated beyond expectations because Jamea Orwatul Wuthqa is not a welfare organization, but people trusted this organization and provided aid. Today on this day the third Caravan will leave Jamea today and eight trucks are leaving for Baluchistan, Sindh and south Punjab. There is food, mosquito nets, blankets, tents, beddings and medicines for helping 1000 families. The ladies’ students gathered 2.5 lacs from their pocket money and gathered goods from their families. The Taufeeq which is there from Jamea they are doing and the aids which people have provided will reach the victims today in the third caravan. We should try to now reconstruct homes for those who cannot rebuild homes which are flood proof so that if the flood repeats then they will remain secure in such homes. There won’t be need for them to come on streets to beg from people. This is the work of welfare organization who have funds and resources. Jamea is an education institute but in this time since people have trusted us we are doing whatever we can.
Last week I have mentioned that we have collected 46.6 million and until yesterday collection has reached 50.62 million and from these three caravans have left. We need to keep some amount reserved for constructing homes. The fodder for animals is a big difficulty. The roads can be constructed by government and the believers have pledged that we will support them in all possible ways. If one believer can take care of one family, to make their home and then this can be done easily. We need 30 million believers to do this. Till the time they are in difficulties we should not feel comfortable. They are living in garbage, dust, on roads and we should not be negligent about them. May Allah help these victims and protect this nation from these devil politicians.
