Within the framework of the controversial “Riyadh season” festival in Saudi Arabia, a strange “Halloween” celebration was held with scandalous costumes and terrifying faces, which is a reflection of a stage in the history of this country under the shadow of the rule of Mohammed bin Salman.
Faraan: The Halloween celebration was dedicated to the display of ridiculously terrifying costumes and displays of bizarre Saudi designs, complete with fireworks displays, advanced sound effects and spooky decorations.
The camera lenses have captured the Saudis in fancy and exotic clothes, singing, music and mixed dance of boys and girls. The nature of this celebration is not within the framework of religion and does not reflect domestic customs, especially since Halloween is associated with another religion. The publication of the video related to the “Riyadh Season” festival, which shows men wearing women’s clothes and making feminine movements, has provoked a wave of anger and criticism from the citizens of this country.
Among other strange costumes in this festival is the appearance and make-up of a man wearing a colorful woman’s dress who is pregnant! It should be noted that all the above-mentioned behaviors in the Halloween celebration in the traditional society of Saudi Arabia were taboo and prohibited until a few decades ago and before Muhammad bin Salman became the crown prince. Nonetheless, Muhammad bin Salman allowed these celebrations with the slogan of “reforms”, while such festivals and ceremonies are in conflict with all human, Islamic and moral values in the country that hosts the two holy shrines.
Turki al-Sheikh, the head of Mossom Board, wrote to the Saudi Arabia Entertainment Board on his Facebook account: “The mood of the weekend was terrible.” Saudi users also showed a negative and critical reaction to the celebration of Halloween. Al-Otaibi wrote: “We imitate everything, even Halloween, I hope this dirty season, in which the image of Saudi Arabia is tarnished with harassment, indecency and irreligion, will be closed.” Another citizen also wrote: “Are you happy with yourself… Are you satisfied that you are a Muslim and celebrate pagan rituals?”
