Sermon 2: Even if mountains love Ali they get crumbled to pieces
Allah has established Taqwa as protection of human life as a divine plan and is expressed for every segment of life and amongst those dimensions of life one segment is social life which is the actual and major part of life. The Noble Quran has expressed the construction and system of this life, and along with this the plan for protection of this social life
In Ale Imran, verse 200
يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اصْبِرُوا وَصَابِرُوا وَرَابِطُوا وَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُونَ {200}
O you who believe! be patient and support others for patience and remain steadfast, and be careful of (your duty to) Allah, that you may be successful
These are those important verses which presents the system of guidance. These are the verses which are addressing believers. Allah is addressing the believers and it is direct from Allah without any intermediary. Some elders have expressed in Tafsir that this is a big privilege for believers that Allah has addressed them directly. Such addresses are privileges but believers generally ignore such addresses. Our trend about Quran is denial, which means to ignore and live our lives closing eyes, denying the realities as if they were not there. Like we have the same behavior regarding laws of nation. The laws are present and in our lives we deny, ignore these laws and live our lives. Whenever we enter any subject we ignore the related laws and do things in our own way for which we can witness our streets where we drive vehicle by not considering any laws. The same we do in every dealing as if there are no laws present in the country. This behavior is termed by Quran as Kufr. Even though the Quran directly addresses believer multiple times but how many are those who are attentive and show their reaction. When addressing is done, it is a call as O you believers then it needs reply.
The verse addresses the believers and is giving four obligatory orders in one verse. Isbaru , to have patience, then Saabiro, Rabeto and Taqwa and after this the outcome is prosperity. The address is to entire nation and specifically when an opportunity or field of Jihad comes then the principles on which you need move forward , the first one being Sabr.
Sabr means to remain standing on something. We have been told to take help from Sabr and it is the biggest help for human being. Sabr starts with some action, movement. First man does intention, establishes a purpose, adopts a path for that, and then the difficulties, troubles obstacles come on the path and this is where patience is required. Sabr is not required on sleeping on bed, snoring, eating, entertainment and other areas of luxuries. First of all we misinterpret Sabr to leave the path, becoming helpless and expressing helplessness that he cannot do anything. Sabr means you are in some practical field where there are troubles obstacles and despite of these you need to remain firm on your intention and continue your journey.
The second is Musabra, which means to give support, patience to each other. At times one person becomes weak. Not everyone are same. Some are weak, timid, lack courage they need support from other for being patience. The Saabiro means to cooperate, help, support each other for Sabr. Like some people start a journey together, and in between some face problems. The students have started education journey together and some face problems in between. The other students are waiting for him to leave. This is not the duty of believers his duty is to support the one who has become lazy, weak and give him support. For him also remove the weakness and obstacles. This is Musabara which we don’t do as we are living a life of kufr where we deny the guidance from Allah. We are waiting for our companions to leave the path and change their intention then we will taunt and insult them. We have to do Musabara. Similarly in practical life if someone has troubles, then it is possible that he may move away from the right path, instead of overcoming obstacles and they leave the path. This is a trend of failure and due to this majority do not become successful in their purpose. They cannot figure out whether obstacles should be removed or I should leave. We should be patient and give patience to others. Then the third thing is Rabeta which is also bi directional that is to remain connected. The policy which Quran has given for connections we have ignored that.
This is one more example where four orders have been expressed in one verse which are fundamental orders. The Fiqh sources which you have , turn every page of that and see where are these four orders. We say Fiqh is the collection of orders of Allah. If this is the case then these four affairs are from orders of Allah, and Fiqh is the science presenting the orders of Allah. So where is the Fatwa of these being Wajib? Which Mujtahid has compiled this order in which book. Isbaru, Saabaru, Rabetu, Ittaqu are made obligatory but why they are not present in the system of Fiqh. This is because these are social orders and us in system of Fiqh presents individual and worship laws only. We have confined our Fiqh into this much limits. We have ignored the social orders and then we are happy that we have clinched to Quran though the orders of Quran are not present in your understanding of Quran.
The Quran is explicitly asking believers to acquire Patience. So here first the subject of Sabr has to be expressed. The way the orders of Wudhu, Salaat are expressed than Sabr is also obligatory. Why Sabr has not been given importance? The things due to which our Salaat has also failed is due to lack of Sabr. For Sabr against this Qurann has used the word Jaza, means to cut something. The intentions to reach purpose needs patience, which is continuity and perseverance.
The Murabeta is amongst believers as they are the addressee. The way Salaat is an order then there is a system for Salaat like five times, in Jamaat, in mosque etc. The same applies for Rabeta as well where Allah has ordained situation, occasions, policies, things, affairs on which you need to be connected. And then Acquire Taqwa which means to acquire protection mechanisms and plans. Here Sabr, Saabero, Rabetu are not related to fear, so Taqwa is also a method which you have to adopt. This collection is a very important in one verse for Muslims and believers but in Tafsir also this verse has been ignored. Certain scholars have written detailed books from these one such verse. When Motahari and Baqirus Sadr deduce a full book, Tauzeeul masael from this one verse. This is the best example of social guidance. And then after this the outcome is Falah which we have discussed before several times. The Falah is an agricultural term which is very beautiful and is used for guidance so that guidance is resemblance to agriculture. In farming man place seeds, nurtures it, then harvest the crops that come out and then brings home the provisioning. This entire act from planting to harvesting is Falah. The guidance is also like a land tha needs to be prepared, the seed to be placed and then nurturing the crop and when the crop bromes ready as a human society , this is Muflehoon. It starts from zero and making it reach the purpose your life.
If we see in our country, majority are Muslims. We can see how their lives are. From every perspective the lives are failed, ruined and surrounded by corruption whereas Quran is present with them, divine education is with them but they have ignored it. They have religious passion as highest in the world but lack of cognizance of religion is the least. If the nation of Pakistan pays attention to this verse and becomes its addressee. We have become Qari and Hafiz but have not become addresses. Sabiru, Isbaru are the things to be done by everyone. This is the only thing which we are not doing. We have hopes for Falah which we will get from China, Saudi Arab. Our leaders are such that who cannot even read Quran by looking at it. One are the Zakir’s, orators and one are leaders who cannot recite Quran and are guarantors of their Ummah for religion and world. They are making the Pakistani community as Muflehoon?
We have the manifesto of Falah given by Quran in this verse if we acquire it. When Taqwa joins with Sabr, Musabara and Murabeta then Taqwa gives it outcome and it does not comes into existence without this collection.

SECOND SERMON

Sermon 2: Even if mountains love Ali they get crumbled to pieces
Amirul Momineen in saying no 111
Sahl ibn Hunayf al-Ansari died at Kufah after his return from the battle of Siffin and he was very much loved by Amir al-mu’minin, peace be upon him. On this occasion Amir al-mu’minin said: Even if a mountain had loved me, it would have crumbled down.
. وقال عليه السلام وقد توفي سهل بن حُنَيْفٍ الاَنصاري بالكوفة بعد مرجعه معه من صفين، وكان من أحبّ الناس إليه: لَوْ أَحَبَّنِي جَبَلٌ لَتَهَافَتَ
When Ali returned from Siffeen, he liked this companion a lot and from the time of Prophet till Siffeen, was Sahl ibn Hunaif (r.a). Amirul Momineen (a) got the news after reaching Kufa that he has passed away.
Ali says that even when someone loves us he suffers hardship to the extent that even if he is like mountain he crumbles.
Then the saying no 112 is also related to the same. The one who loves Ahlulbayt (a) should get prepared to wear the attire of poverty. This is an important subject which Amirul Momineen (a) has expressed like other topics.
First of all this hadith is related to the companion from Ansar’s of Medina and an esteemed personality. The Shias lack the knowledge of the companions of Prophet, as to what they were, what where their achievement. They don’t consider this worth to discuss about companions because we believe that it will reduce the status of Ahlulbayt (a).
For the companions their character, status which have been discussed by Prophet, Quran and Imams, whey we will disturbed to mention them. This companion Sahl ibn Hunaif, Amirul Momineen (a) recited 25 Takbir in his funeral. Imam Sadiq (a) says Ali cried and people would lift the coffin, then Ali would recite 5 Takbir Dua, and this way while taking him to grave Ali recited 25 Takbirs in his respect. And we feel ashamed to take name of companions, specifically those whose status has been expressed by Ahlulbayt (a). Imam Sadiq (A) asks his students the name of that companion whom Ali bid farewell with so many Takbir. They asked Imam to say, and then Imam said Sahl ibn Hunaif Ansari (r.a). This topic is abandoned. Maulana Tariq Jameel has written a note on the book of someone about Ahlulbayt (a). He says the syllabus of religion which I studied was incomplete and the merits of Ahlulbayt (a) were not present in it. We studied and got out of madrassa and after that I realized that I have not studied an important chapter of Ahlulbayt (a). Then he said I made own arrangement to study that and realized their status in eyes of Allah. He studied expressed and paid the costs for this. Some people like orators get compensation by mentioning Ahlulbayt (a) but some pay a heavy cost for mentioning the virtues of Ahlulbayt (a). May Allah keep him firm on this path of love Ahlulbayt (a). So why we don’t feel this? We study the religion but no knowledge about companions. Those who preach about companions, and accuse the Shias, they become terrorists but they can’t even take the names of 10 companions. The Ahle Sunna researchers have mentioned status of Ahlulbayt (a) as more than companions. This is just one example I am presenting and if I get opportunity I will present to you the status of Ahlulbayt (a) from Sunni references.
This is one companion and see the protocol Ali is giving him. Some companions distanced from Ahlulbayt (a) and some remained with the Prophet and Ahlulbayt (a) till the end. They are two brothers, Usman ibn Hunaif and Sahl ibn Hunaif and Amirul Momineen (a) gave good positions to them. As per one narration, Sahl ibn Hunafi is from the companions of Badr and Quran has honored the companions of Badr separately. The Quran says when the companions of Badr comes, the others should give them place, such is the status of the companions of Badr. In Ohud the won battle was lost, due to one group which went after war booties due to which Khalid bin Waleed attacked and then precious life of Hazrat Hamza was lost and the Prophet got wounded. The rumor was spread that the Prophet has been killed and all Muslims ran from the battlefield. The Quran also discusses about them , condemned them and then the verse is also there that they were forgiven for this act. When the prophet was left injured and everyone ran away except three remained with Prophet. The Prophet was calling the others but they were not listening. The three were Ali, Zubair ibn Awam and third was Sahl ibn Hunaif as per this narration . As per some other narrations there were more as well who remained. This companion later came to Kufa and then passed away. On his passing away , Ali says even if mountains love me, it would get broken to pieces. Ali testified that Sahl ibn Hunaif was from those lovers of Ali who bear all the hardship. He was a trustworthy companion on whom Ali relied and remembered very few after their passing away. Ali on many occasion would remember them and cry and call out to them in his army , as to where is Ammar.
If the mountain also loves me then it would be shredded to pieces. Sayed Razi says in the tafsir that those who love ali and excel in righteousness they will suffer hardships. The reason is known because Ali says to love me is not easy. He is in governance now and says to love is very hard. There are two hardships, one is to love Ali and support him is very difficult. The courage of lover is not the same as Ali’s. He cannot do what Ali wants him to do. The one who loves has a big problem that he has selected Ali as the Imam. The second hardship is that if someone expresses a little about Ali then entire world would become enemy. The Banu Umayyah, Khawarij, Quraish, elites , politicians, lovers of power, worldly people will become his enemies. Those who love Ali cannot for these categories. Sayed Razi narrates another hadith that one who loves Ahlulbayt (a) should be prepared for deprivation. These statements need more elaboration which we will discuss later.
