FARAAN: Despite his high skill in speaking and reasoning in the media, Saleh al-Arouri, the vice-chairman of the political bureau of Hamas, has preferred to stay away from the media to some extent in the recent years and give this opportunity to other top leaders of the Hamas movement.
In the last 5 years, Al-Arouri developed a strategy titled “The Israeli project can only be defeated in multiple, integrated and chain fronts” in the axis of resistance.
The forces of the resistance axis, including Iran, Hezbollah and even in Syria, look at him as the front-line man in confronting the occupying regime. What many do not know is that the leaders of the resistance axis believed in al-Arouri’s analysis about the reality of Israel and that he has carried out a political and military mission in the occupied Palestine for the last 20 years, even behind bars.
Al-Arouri theory is based on expanding the scope of resistance in the West Bank and creating unity between different fronts, especially the resistance front in the Azza strip. Al-Arouri knows very well that the occupying regime has no tools in future battles except air power, and has not won any battle so far, and the side that always settles the outcome of the ground war is the Palestinian resistance and the Lebanese resistance, which have proven in the last two decades that they are in really powerful in the ground battles and always have the upper hand.
Al-Arouri’s theory is also based on the fact that the West Bank is the place of erosion of the occupying regime and this fact can be realized through individual resistance operations and popular confrontation. In Tel Aviv, they believe that the multi-front threat is the most dangerous threat in the history of this regime’s internal security, and they say that al-Arouri is trying to heat up the other fronts by heating up the West Bank front. Therefore, during a meeting in Tel Aviv to review how to respond to rocket attacks from Lebanon and Gaza, the portrait of al-Arouri was on their table and he was chosen as the most important option for assassination.
Al-Arouri is not as well-known in the occupied Palestine as Ismail Haniyeh, the head of the political office of Hamas, or Yahya al-Sanwar, the head of the political office of Hamas in Gaza. However, the security services of the occupying regime, who were present at the recent meeting, know very well that al-Arouri is not only with them but also is important in the eyes of all parties and actors, and therefore any harm to him will ignite not only three fronts but also the fourth front, which is inside Palestine, and that is when it will be conclusively proven that Israel is a paper tiger.
