FARAAN: Emmanuel Macron, the President of France, stated at a press conference on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Washington: “Some complain that we give less importance to Gaza than to Ukraine, and this causes us significant harm; we must demonstrate that this is incorrect.”
Macron’s action in rejecting criticisms about the West’s double standards concerning the Israeli regime’s aggressions in Gaza and the Russia-Ukraine war does not change any reality, as this opposition is merely a diversion. The West has catastrophically fallen from grace by standing alongside child-killers in Gaza, openly and ignoring public opinion that opposes blind support for the perpetrators. This situation reveals the falsehood of Western slogans about human rights.
It is noteworthy that Macron implicitly acknowledges the double standards of the West regarding the events in Gaza and Ukraine in his statements, admitting that this issue causes profound harm to the West – harm that has already occurred and is now over. The West has mobilized all its military, financial, political, and media resources to stand by Ukraine in a futile war with Russia – a war instigated by Ukraine’s insistence on joining NATO, which Russia considered a serious threat to its existence and national security. Meanwhile, in the genocidal war against the people of Gaza, the West sides with the Israeli regime, which has besieged them for 17 years.
Macron should recognize that the West’s double standards on international issues are nothing new, as the West handles even fundamental issues like human rights selectively. We have all witnessed how the West opened its doors to Ukrainian refugees, while Russia had not targeted civilian areas in Ukraine. Yet in the case of Palestine and the Gaza conflict, with over 150,000 Palestinians martyred and injured and 10,000 people, mostly children and women, missing, the West turns a blind eye. The Israeli regime, in addition to depriving them of food, medicine, and water, has displaced over two million people after destroying their homes, but the West is only concerned about the fate of a few dozen Israeli prisoners in the hands of Gaza’s resistance.
Macron and other hypocritical Western leaders must understand that the lessons from Gaza, despite its severity, have revealed the ugly, despised, and hypocritical face of not only Western governments and organizations but also the entire Western civilization and its support for child-killers. This civilization, through threats and pressures on international bodies like the UN, the International Criminal Court, and the International Court of Justice, prevents the punishment of criminals.
Such a civilization can only be described as a savage one, and thank God that Gaza, despite all its tragedies, has opened the eyes of public opinion around the world, showing them this civilization as it truly is, without the false masks.
