America’s new amendment to the Caesar Act; Washington prevents countries in the region from getting energy

The United States has once again aimed the Caesar’s weapon at the Syrian people, with the new amendment that the United States intends to apply to the Caesar’s sanctions against Damascus, the project of transferring gas and electricity from Egypt and Jordan through Syrian territory to Lebanon is practically canceled.

Faraan: The American government, which by creating, arming and supporting takfiri and terrorist groups failed to bring the Syrian government to its knees and divide this country, has targeted the economic power of this country by passing an anti-human law known as the Caesar Law.

Last year, the United States promised the Lebanese that it would provide the conditions for the transfer of Egyptian gas and Jordanian electricity through Syrian territory to Lebanon with the aim of solving the country’s fuel crisis. Nevertheless, not only has it not taken any practical action in this regard, but with a new amendment that it intends to fulfil, the slow implementation of the “Caesar Act” (US sanctions against Syria) has practically closed the way for any energy transfer through Syrian territory to Lebanon.

Washington makes it difficult for most countries in the region to emphasize once again that the sword of sanctions is over the heads of nations and a threat to people’s livelihood. America falsely claims that it is trying to protect civilians, but on the contrary, it adds to their suffering, confronts them in the field of livelihood and deprives them of the most basic necessities of life. According to the report of news sources, the new sanctions were proposed by congressional Republicans to add to previous sanctions laws; If the Congress approves the draft of the new resolution to come into effect, this new sanction will prevent the implementation of the pipeline project to transfer gas from Egypt to Lebanon through the Syrian territory.

The main axis in these new sanctions is related to the transfer of natural gas, electricity, or any transaction related to energy, whether it is done by an individual or a company. Informed sources also emphasize that these new sanctions will be around a new phrase called “big transaction” which requires the imposition of penalties for any transaction related to gas, electricity and energy. In addition, according to the new sanctions proposal by the Republican senator, the Syrian government will be deprived of its rights to receive money from the International Monetary Fund; this is while Syria was supposed to receive loans and financial aid from the said fund to fight against Corona. The new sanction means that other countries, including Jordan and Lebanon, will also be affected by these unfair sanctions.
