Assad’s victory in the Jeddah Conference and the challenges of rebuilding Syria

FARAAN: International relations experts say that the importance of Syria’s return to the Arab League is not to regain the country’s seat, but to return to its position as a leading country in the Arab world. In fact, all the countries that participated in the Jeddah Conference have admitted the role and legitimacy of Syria and the oppression that has been done to this country in the last 12 years.

Commentary:

Experts pointed out that if we go back to the conferences of Arab leaders in the previous years, we will not see any of these decisions and discussions, because in those previous years, the attendees continuously discussed issues such as the Palestinian issue, the issues of Lebanon and Yemen, etc. The talks went around and there was never any talk about Syria. However, in this year’s conference, there was no more talk of repeated discussions and statements of Ahmed Aboul Gheit and others about political solution and so on.
These experts emphasize that the speech of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in this conference was a seal of approval and emphasis on this return and proved that here we are talking about Syria belonging to the Arab world and not that it has no choice or will. In fact, Assad has returned to steer the ship of the Arab world according to his principles and rules.

These experts say that Bashar al-Assad’s presence in this conference is actually a victory for the principles, beliefs and values that he has adhered to since the very first day, but one of the most important issues and decisions raised in this conference is the territorial integrity of Syria and trying to help rebuild this country. Experts and political analysts also believe that many people do not have much hope for these conferences, but the special thing that makes the Jeddah conference stand out is its decisive role in the regional and international situation.

These experts point out that the suspension of Syria’s membership in the Arab League was illegal from the beginning. They clarified that it is actually the Arab League that has returned to Syria because Syria has never lost sight of its principles and values.
