At least 1,000 Palestinians jailed by Israeli occupation forces in the past month

The Palestine Center for Prisoner Studies (PCPS) said that over 1,000 Palestinian citizens, including 92 children and 14 women, were either detained or jailed by the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) in last April.

Faraan: In its monthly report on arrests, PCPS accused the Israeli occupation authority of escalating its repressive and detention campaigns during the reporting month across the occupied Palestinian territories, especially in east al-Quds where about 500 Palestinian worshipers were rounded up in a few hours following a violent police raid on the Aqsa Mosque.

According to the report, most of the citizens who were detained during the police violence at the Aqsa Mosque compound were released later. Dozens suffered injuries and bruises at the time after being assaulted by police forces. In the Gaza Strip, the IOF kidnaped 15 fishermen in April as they were working in Gaza waters.

Another Gazan citizen who holds a businessman permit was also kidnaped during the same month by the IOF as he was trying to travel officially through the Beit Hanoun (Erez) border crossing. All the detainees from Gaza were released after interrogating them.
