Sermon 1: Azadari is the continuation of awakening of Ummah by Imam Hussain (a)
Muharram, Ashura is a special blessing as a guide from Imam Hussain on this Ummah. The model which Imam Hussain (a) has created for believers is that bounty from Allah which is not blessed to another Ummah. Since we lack Taqwa, we have not secured ourselves hence we lost everything of ours including world and religion both as per Allama Iqbal. We could neither secure our religion nor world. We are downtrodden in world and deviated in religion. The reason for this status is due to abandoning of security plan. If we would have acted upon Taqwa then everything which Allah had granted would have been secure.
The affairs which Ummah have wasted is the role model of Imam Hussain (a) and only those who have maintained this model and followed him are those who possess Taqwa. The uprising which Imam Hussain (a) did and presented himself to the level of martyrdom along with his entire existence, family, beloved one and women in the path of the Allah was a role model for a specific purpose. Since Imam Hussain (a) knew his end and in Mecca on several instances he mentioned that I would be killed but the place where I would be killed would not be decided by Banu Umayyah but I will decide. The Prophet has guided me in dream where I would get martyred and it happened there only even though the Banu Umayyah tried to get this done elsewhere. Waleed, Marwan tried for Medina, Amr bin Saed tried to kill him in Mecca and Kufi’s were planning to get this happen in Kufa but it happened in Karbala which was ordained by Prophet and this was the plan of Imam Hussain. He knew the end and this mistake has been done by scholars, writers, speakers that Imam did not had knowledge or the calculation which Imam did about the situation God forbid he did a mistake and this happened incidentally. But Imam has informed in advance as to where I was going and this was to happen. It is not that only Imam Hussain (a) knew about the end, but in fact all the well wishers of Imam who did not join the caravan of Imam also made him attentive as to what would be the end of where you are heading towards and Imam also testified , prayed from them and informed that I have the knowledge of what you are saying. Despite of this he continued this journey till he reached that known end.
The reason for this was that the analysis of Ummah which Imam (a) did was a stagnant, silent Ummah. For such Ummah who are stagnant the only way was this to make them active. If there is no Amr Bil Maroof and Nahi Anal Munkar then the Ummah is dead, because the sign of a live nation is movement. The sign of dead society is where values change into anti-value, there are no prohibition of evils (Munkar) and the community becomes senseless towards evil. Such a society has no movement and now they need a mobilizer to make the Ummah active. The Ulama are inheritors of Prophets but they have not taken this inheritance. The same hadith says that Ulama do not inherit dirham and dinar from Prophets. The Prophets were aroused by Allah which means one who is aware, awake and charged. Bethat means to arouse someone and bring him to action. For Qayamat also it is mentioned that it is Day of Bethat. When Imam Hussain (a) saw that they are not sensitive to any values being abandoned and evils being promoted. This means they are dead.
So the question is why you are continuing this journey which will reach to the end of being killed. It looks like Imam is trying his best to make this reach this end and he is removing all obstacles from the path. You can see the pressure how much has been put on from Banu Hashim and how much sympathetically they emphasized him to not go on this dangerous journey like Abdallah ibn Abbas pleaded, Mohammad hold the mount of Camel and said I won’t allow you to go proceed. Abdullah ibn Jafar the husband of Lady Zainab (s) tried his best to the extent that he got the immunity letter from Banu Ummah to guarantee his safety. He took the delegation from Governor’s office to meet Imam Hussain (a) and pursued him to not go and assured his personal guarantee as safety. Imam is overcoming all these obstacles to get this mission accomplished.
People are sympathetic towards the personality of Imam Hussain (a) and in every instance they are demanding the safety of the life of this person but the one for whom they are seeking is he also desirous of life? The way Prophets are aroused which was not to live a comfortable life. The people are emphasizing to go backwards but Imam wants to continue at any cost. This is because this disease which has inflicted Ummah can come in every Ummah. The way Prophet aroused the Ummah and this aroused Ummah did everything. The same aroused Ummah when during the first Caliphate era when some groups denied certain laws like Zakat and even though many advisors of Caliph said not to do this, but the Ummah did this battle against the apostates. This is because the Prophet has left an aroused, trained Ummah and now the Hakim has to use them in whichever direction. The second caliph then got this Ummah towards wars of victory over other lands. They did this impossible task. They were not trained force; they came from tribes whereas they were confronting big military powers like Iran and Rome. And these Bedouins defeated them because of the preparedness which Prophet has developed inside them. The prepared people are ready to do whatever is asked them to be done. These battles of victory became the basis of getting luxuries of life, like homes, livestock, dirham and dinar which they got filled their homes completely. They would hoard of coins inside homes. The same Ummah then became stagnant.
Abdur Rahman ibn Awf who was a political personality and played a central casting role for appointment of 3rd Caliph and as compared to wealth, he was the richest person in all companions. He was from companions of Sufa who had not even clothes to wear but when he died you see how much wealth he left and to distribute his wealth amongst his heir’s labor was called to distribute the sacks. He himself says that Allah tested us with poverty when we had nothing and were successful but when bounties came to us we failed and got defeated.
One cause of this stagnancy was this abundant wealth which eventually revived the tribalism inside them and values which prophet instilled inside them ended and again the values of era of ignorance came inside them. To mobilize them Imam first preached them for 4 months in Mecca and even prior to that in Mina a year before Imam delivered a powerful sermon and presented all arguments, criticized them to mobilize them. But not a single person accepted the invitation of Imam. We can estimate what calamites have besieged them, how lowly they had become. When an Ummah gets indulged into such disease then Imam took such a step. And the step was such that he made it a model to prepare every generation. He opened this door of martyrdom which got abandoned due to luxurious. The Banu Umayyah removed the soul of martyrdom from this society and made them dead. And in this dead society Yazid became a ruler. Imam is talking to Faqeeh, Muhaddith, companion, son of companion, Hashmi, non-Hashmi everyone is stagnant and not getting effected. When such state is present then the same soul is required which the Prophet has blown inside them. This needs to be instilled inside. The uprising of Imam Hussain (a) was to instill this soul inside Ummah. Hence he discussed as well my purpose is Amr Bil Maroof and Nahi Anal Munkar.
Now this uprising of Imam Hussain (a) need to get transferred to further generation the Ahlulbayt (a) made the generation. This was all done as per a plan. The survival of Imam Sajjad was a plan of Imam Hussain (a) for continuation of this path. The guidance to Lady Zainab (s) was a plan by Imam Hussain (a) to continue this mission. The Imams did all the efforts to preserve this path is present today with us in the form of Azadari. Moharram is the name of this and this continuation of Ashura is a prestige for Shias that they have taken this from Ahlulbayt (a) and today Shias across the world make arrangements for Azadari. The scene of Azadari today and that on Ashura is different. There is not a single person was ready to come but today we see millions coming out in the processions of Imam Hussain (a) where old, young, women, children come out in the form of sea. It looks like in Pakistan entire Pakistani community is Shia on the Day of Ashura. From this we can perceive that Ashura has developed that mobilization but still it is not mobilization today’s generation. Azadari, Moharram is also a Bethat which gives motivation to a community. But the way the inheritance of Bethat of Prophet was used to conquer lands of superpowers same way the soul which Imam instilled was also cashed but not for the purpose which Imam Hussain intended. That was to have an aware, awakened and active Ummah. The sign of this awakened Ummah would be that they possess Amr Bil Maroof and Nahi Anal Munkar. And biggest evil is a Taghoot, tyrant ruler and to speak a word of truth against tyrant ruler is big thing. Today people have come out in the name of Imam Hussain (a) but the force that has come out is used where today? This force is not use against Yazidiat, not for Amr Bil Maroof, Nahi Anal Munkar, not for reformation and Bethat of Ummah. It is been misused for trading ,personal gains and political benefits. Such a power if present with a purposeful nation they can conquer the world.
Allah has kept the status of Ummah of prophet being as guardian for all nations. If we see the history we can see only Imam Khomeini (r) used this uprising in the right way rest all used for unsuitable objectives. This is a big power and activator , and today such force is present in Pakistan but they play a zero role. They cannot get Pakistan out of difficulties; they cannot change the Prime Minister of Pakistan. They support Yazid. The efforts of Imam Hussain (a) were not used at all in Pakistan. We can see how big power is Azadari which can awaken, arouse, mobilize Ummah and can end all evils of society and turn the society into Hussaini. But those who have controlled this and misusing despite of this being so strong, we can see the grievous state of Pakistan, Muslims and Shias. Hence who should have come on pulpits, who should have recited pomes, who should have delivered sermons? These lullabies are not in accordance with Karbala and only what Imam Hussain (a) has said suits Karbala and we should practice.
May Allah grant us the Taufeeq to do this Azadari which can give salvation.

SECOND SERMON

Sermon 2: Khazileen of Imam Hussain (a) and of Imamat in this era
Imam Hussain (a) in his sermon has discussed about two topics , one is Nasr and another is Khazl which he has repeated. Imam Hussain (a) said that our Shias have done Khazl instead of being Nasir. Khazl means to isolate someone, separate from one whom you should have been together. Like children should be with needy parents, or a friend in need should be present at the time of need. This in Arabic language is Khazl. Nasr is that fast stream of water falling down from mountains which mobilizes still water below. In Quran Nasr is that Ummah who is revolutionary and they are mobilized in a speedy way that they awaken the stagnant people as well. This is Nasr. When there is a need to mobilize the stagnant community then these Nasir should come out and mobilize them. The Khazlieen are those who should have been present at the time of need but they leave him.
Imams have taken names and mentioned who were these Khazil. All these Ziarat testimonies are associated with the Imams that these have been taught by Imams. The common topic in the Ziarat testimonial of Imam Hussain (a) is related to Nasr and Khazl. In Duas also it is found that O Allah become supporter of those who supported Imams and Islam and you also ignore them those who isolated. Quran says that outcome of Nasr is Nasr. If you become Nasir of Allah, his appointed Imams, Prophet then Allah will become your Nasir. When you will be in need there is no one to help you and everyone isolates you then in that state as well Allah will come for your help and make arrangement of means which you cannot even estimate. We think that the outcome of everything is food, that at the end of programs we need food. We have the same thinking that in hereafter as well we will get food. The outcome of Nasr is Nasr and Khazl is Khazl. If you support then you will be supported, if you leave alone you will become isolated.
Who did the Khazl of Imam Hussain (a)? The people of Kufa who had Shias and non Shias. Those who called Imam Hussain (a) for supporting him but when the time came they left him. They were cursed by Allah and Imams. O Allah! Curse those who left Hussain alone. To not being present at the time of support is Khazl. Allah has commanded us that when there is need and you cannot whatever you can, but if you sit at home with wives and children ,then this is Khazl.
Let me inform you where the terminology of Khazl is used. Khazl was the term used for livestock of sheep and specifically for deer. These animals always move in the form of flock like camels, sheep, deer move together in flock. These animals who move the same way as flock and they are all disciplined naturally. When some animal gives birth in a flock, the entire herd stops; gives protection and support. The second attribute is that their children do not need much pampering and do not remain on bed. The mother licks and massages the new born to open the veins and muscles of the new born and in short time stands and walks. But since it is a child who is weak and cannot catch speed with the flock for few days. The outcome is that the mother has to move with the flock but then the child leaves behind. This deer leaves the flock and stays with the child. This deer, camel who for the sake of the child separates from the flock is termed by Arabs as Khazala. What has separated from the flock is the love of child. Then what happens with this Makzhool is that some wolf comes and attacks them as they are not safe.
In terminology Nasr means a fast-running stream of water. In Quran to go with means and help is Nasr. Like during floods now in Baluchistan those who possess means should help. Imam hussian demanded Nasr and complained about Khazl. Imam Hussain (a) wrote a letter after news of Muslim martyrdom that they have done Khazl. This Khazl is a bad spot which has become Seerat. What Imam did not become a custom but what Shimr did became a custom. The Ahlulbayt (a) were tied with ropes, shackles which was done by enemies became a custom. Imam got all his supporters martyred and after that called for Nasireen. The Shias left Imam and this Khazl is a big disgrace. We do Azadari but are not attentive towards Khazl. First we disconnected from Imamat and then when towards Democracy. Is this not Khazl? The potential of Azadari has been placed in the feet of democracy and Imamat is isolated today. Do not become satisfied by delivering cultural rites. The one who sat and did not come with Imam Hussain (a), but later who came with candles on grave, who later fought, who did a lot later but were all Khazileen. Those who came with imam were Nasir. Khazileen are those who take the name of Imamat and are standing with democracy. We have been taught to curse those who have done Khazl on Imamat. What is the justification to leave Imamat alone and stand with other Taghoot’s? This is not desired by Allah, Prophet. O Allah forgive our Khazl if we have done till day and grant us Taufeeq for the help of Prophet and become supporters of Allah. May that time not come where we have to be present. May Allah help the mujahideen. May Allah protect Pakistan and disgrace the traitors, discord makers and those who create insecure. May Allah protect all the Azadar.
