Children as young as 10 are being groomed in Romania, to be trafficked to the UK
Faraan: According to a recent research, it has been found that children as young as 10 are being groomed in Romania, to be trafficked to the UK.
Once they arrive as teenagers, they’re kept captive and pimped out for sex.
With police struggling to stop this brutal trade, the BBC correspondent, Jean Mackenzie, has spent two years travelling between Romania and the UK. She uncovers why this industry is thriving, as she meets the girls being bought and sold.
Evil Romanian sex traffickers are grooming girls in schools, a documentary has claimed. They are then transported from Romanian schools to the UK, where they are subjected to unimaginable abuse, the Daily Telegraph reports.
Hundreds of girls have fallen victim to a loophole in Romanian law, whereby cops can’t pursue kidnappers if the girl leaves of her own free will without complaint.
Iana Matei – who operates a Romanian shelter for trafficked kids – told BBC Two documentary Sold: Sex Slaves Next Door: “The loverboy method is the most horrible method of recruiting girls. “There are recruiters in the school yards and they talk to the girls. “I have a 13-year-old, Daniella, right here desperately trying to get back to her 52-year-old loverboy.”
