Foreign Ministry: The only solution to the Yemeni crisis is a political solution led by the Yemenis

The Foreign Ministry said in a statement that it supported any just and practical efforts to lift the siege, establish a ceasefire and start Yemeni-Yemeni talks without foreign interference, and that the only solution to the Yemeni crisis would be a political solution led by the Yemenis.

Faraan: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran issued a statement on the seventh anniversary of the Saudi-led military invasion of Yemen.

The statement said: “The destructive war and the cruel siege of the coalition against the Yemeni people enters its eighth year as it confronts this resilient country with the greatest human catastrophe of the century, and the direct and indirect consequences of this war are mostly felt by civilians, women and children. It has captured the innocent and destroyed the vital infrastructure and facilities of the Yemeni health, livelihood, economy and education sectors.

The statement from the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs added: “The aggressor coalition has not been content with bombing and rocket fire in the last seven years and is imposing the worst economic war by using inhuman and illegal siege as a lever to gain political and military concessions. The most severe blockade is by blocking land, air and sea access routes and preventing the entry of food, fuel and other essential necessities of the people.”

The statement said: “This inhumane crime of the aggressor coalition continues to violate all international law and human rights in the context of the Yemeni crisis in the shadow of the continued sale of weapons by Western and American supporters and the application of double standards and a biased view in the UN Security Council.”
The statement said: “The Islamic Republic of Iran, as in the past, supports any just and practical efforts and initiatives to lift the siege, establish a ceasefire and start Yemeni-Yemeni talks without foreign interference in the light of the UN Special Representative’s efforts. Iran considers the solution to the Yemeni crisis to be a political solution led by the Yemenis.

According to Fars, Saeed Khatibzadeh, spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, also called the Security Council resolution on the Yemeni crisis having negative consequences for the peace process and said: “This resolution further distances the positions of the parties to the conflict.”
