Sermon 1: Meezan (scale) and Hadid (iron) – For establishing Adl
Sermon 2: Gaza is the scale that proves no human beings are on earth
Taqwa from Allah is the protection plan for human life and its execution is handed over to man. Allah ordained the purpose of creation for man, made the path to reach the purpose and a constitution to walk on the path, but this journey of guidance has been handed over to human being. Similarly, Taqwa has been ordained by Allah but it has to be established by man.
The fundamental pillar and element of this security system is Adl. Allah says establish Adl because it is nearest to Taqwa. This is because the foundation of man, guidance for man, the system of existence and systems made by Allah are all based on the foundations of Adl. If Adalat is ignored then the entire system of universe and balance in human life does not remains established including guidance for man. The plan, design which Allah has made for society is also on the basis of Adl and this social aspect has been emphasized a lot and high arrangements are made for this. In universe Allah has established Adl by his will but in human society it is left to the will and intention of human being to it themselves so the human society becomes secure.
Today we can see the most insecure is human society and humanity from every dimension. The arraignment that Allah has made has been expressed in Surah Hadid verse 25
لَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا رُسُلَنَا بِالْبَيِّنَاتِ وَأَنْزَلْنَا مَعَهُمُ الْكِتَابَ وَالْمِيزَانَ لِيَقُومَ النَّاسُ بِالْقِسْطِ ۖ وَأَنْزَلْنَا الْحَدِيدَ فِيهِ بَأْسٌ شَدِيدٌ وَمَنَافِعُ لِلنَّاسِ وَلِيَعْلَمَ اللَّهُ مَنْ يَنْصُرُهُ وَرُسُلَهُ بِالْغَيْبِ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ قَوِيٌّ عَزِيزٌ {25}
Certainly, we sent Our messengers with clear arguments, and sent down with them the Book and the balance that men may conduct themselves with equity; and We have made the iron, wherein is great violence and advantages to men, and that Allah may know who helps Him and His messengers in the secret; surely Allah is Strong, Mighty.
In this verse the purpose of arousing Prophets, descension of book, establishment of scale and sending of iron are all for the purpose of establishing Adl. In other verses there are more details about these four. Muslims have basic misunderstanding about Quran even though they are emotional about Quran and respect its sanctity. We do not consider Quran as the constitution of our daily life. Quran has Deen(religion) and Deen are those laws under which man lives his routine life. The affairs under which man makes life, family, take education, earns living are done under certain rules and laws. Quran has come to guide us in these daily routine affairs of our life but we do not consider this from Quran instead we have deduced the laws for our life from culture, ancestors and other sources. And only for the sake of spirituality we have kept Quran in between to read sometimes, start some ceremonies. We do not demand nor do we expect that Quran will guide us from this perspective. The scholars also do not derive the daily way of living from Quran. The politics, economy and all other affairs are not related to Quran which we take from outside. Some parts of our lives are inherited to us by ancestors, certain parts of our social life have come from Hindu culture. We should ponder how much Hinduism is there in our lives and practically we can see how much percentage of Muslims are Hindu. The third culture is Western that is dominating everyone’s life. In between if you see the routine life, it is under the effect of these and then somewhere Quran comes in between to get blessings on this adapted culture. We have taken Quran, religion out of our life. The foundation of secularism has been laid by religious scholars who have removed Quran from the routine life of man. Like if you see politics we have handed over to Taghoot and have become their followers which is due to incorrect interpretation of Allah. When Moosa came to Firaun he said hand me over these servants of Allah whom you have made your slaves. Today the scholars have handed over the servants of Allah to Taghoot. It is incorrect understanding of Quran that we can live our lives as per other systems, culture and just use Quran for blessing. If we bring Quran in our lives then we will understand what is the purpose of establishing Adl. When Quran says messengers have been sent to establish Adl then we should expect the same social Adl from them. We should also demand from the heavenly books the Adl and the most powerful book is Quran so we should first demand from Quran Adl from Quran. Then along with Book Allah has given to Prophets Meezan (Scale). It means that tool which can weigh something. In terminology the weight is not confined to materialistic things only. Weight is something related because you get the weight when compared to others. The masses do not carry weight it is the gravity that gives matter a weight so when you go in space you can see the bodies have no weight. Thus, there is no weight inside things. Since earth has gravity that pulls everything towards itself and since we get drawn towards earth, we feel the weight. The weight in terminology or Quran is not confined to this weight. There is weight in spiritual affairs, acts and deeds have weight. On Qayamat the deeds of man would be weighed. When someone is looking somewhere, or making intention are all acts which carry weight but not physical. This is because acts do not need gravity of land. The purpose is to assess the worth, value of act which provides the virtue inside man and this is weight. Like if you see this mosque there are simple stones but artists have carved and given various designs to beautify. This act which man has done has increased the worth, value of stone. It is possible that a heavy stone gets trimmed then carved so its physical weight has gone down but its price has gone up several times. This is a virtue which has got developed in the stone which has increased its weight. The human acts also carry weight like this only whereby how much beauty, grandeur they develop in man and also opposite as to how much lowly the acts make a man reach. Weight in general is something that increases the worth of something. The objective references of weights are different and one of them is physical. Like knowledge also has weight which is a virtue that enhances the status, worth, position of a person.
Allah says we have sent Prophets with Bayyanat which are signs, miracles and all those things which are crystal clear. Then we gave Book and Meezan. The Meezan is where the actual weight gets assessed. We descended Meezan also to Prophets. As per some traditions Meezan is religion, in some it is Aql (intellect). These are things on which man has to weigh all affairs. Every human being has been given this power of intellect (Aql) under same laws, whereby the seed has been given by Allah and with nurturing this ability reaches perfection. Aql has been given by Allah (s) to everyone but not like a device whereby man starts to understand things by birth. The seed of Aql has been kept in man and man has to develop it. It is possible man might not be able to do it and in some this gets nurtured and reached perfection. In some this seed dies as well. Meezan means to know the worth, value of something and for this one ability is Aql. Thus, the objective references would be Aql, religion and could be others. To know the value of anything there is a scale and Aql is a comprehensive scale by which man can assess all realities but at that time when it gets nurtured and reaches perfection. Here also it is not individual Aql but social intellect or general intellect. It is not that a person considers their desires as Aql. Like we say I understand like this, then this is your desire and not understanding. As per me, this should be like this means as per my desire it should be like this. And for desires Quran uses the term Hawa and not Aql. When we say in my understanding it would be as per my desire. The sign of Aql is that when you say something is intellectual then everyone who has Aql will testify it. If you have understood and others possessing intellect have not understood then this is not Aql. Whatever Aql recognizes is religion. It is not that what Aql recognizes are personal and not religious. Anything that Aql recognizes as good and bad would be considered religion. As per tradition Aql is another prophet inside man. This Aql has been given by Allah so that people establish Adalat on earth.
Then after this we have descended Hadid (Iron) as well. The scholars take the verses in the direction which is not intended for this. The actual verse is about Adl and scholars get into debate on how iron descended? They say book can come down from sky to earth but iron comes from under the earth, so how can iron come from sky? So, then they should also question how Prophets descended? The Nuzool means something that becomes approachable to human being. The books were not that they were in skies. There is nothing in the blue skies is just deception of eyes. It is also vacuum and when light passes over it, we see it blue. In reality there is nothing but we consider as sky. The Sky means height. These are things which have conventionally come to us without any thinking. The gaps between planets, stars have nothing but just vacuum. So from nothing the books, Angels are descendin? All around the earth there is vacuum and there is no limit. The scientists in the past would say that there is a limit of universe but today’s discovery has proven that there is no limit. They say billions of light years distance there are stars, planets present and the earth is minute particle in this earth. On this particle you can see the movement of man and the disaster he has created without considering the status and position of universe. From this vacuum nothing descends.
Hadid (iron) comes from earth but has been made approachable to man. When man came on earth, he was not aware about Iron. The way Quran was in the knowledge of Allah then it became approachable to man. The iron was under earth then man became aware and found iron. You can see today how much man has grown the world with this iron. The iron does not mean iron ore only, but instead everything similar. Hadid and Hudood are from same family. Hadid does not mean iron, it means that end, limit where something is stopped. That end is called Hadid. This obstacle is created through something and that thing which stops something is known as Hadid. This can be in physical form or even spiritual. We refer to Hadid as iron because if something does not stop normally it gets stopped with Iron that is sword is used for the same purpose. Quran says that that this Hadid has Baas un Shadid, which means it has hardness. For the purpose of establishing Adl, religion the arrangement we have made, one is Iron which means things that has hardness. This means for establishing Adl you need hardness as well because certain obstacles, groups come up in the path of Adl. How will you remove, eliminate the obstacles and open the way for Adl. That power is Hadid which will stop. The ammunitions, guns all come under Hadid. This physical power is also necessary for establishing Adl. In Adl first of all people are not desirous of Adl. The Prophets have come to arouse the need, demand, desire for Adl, and people should love Adl. If the Prophets have done Tableegh, Aql has guided, Book has specified and if man becomes desirous of Adl and moment they rise for Adl, there is a big army of oppressors, tyrants in front who do not want man to establish Adl. For this you have to use Hadid means with sternness you have to behave with them to eliminate them. If man becomes desirous of Adl and Firaun, Samri are present then here the arrangement made by Quran is Adl. In this Hadid Quran says it has hardness and other benefits as well. After expressing all this the verse says, Allah knows who are those who help Allah and his messengers in secret and Allah is powerful and mighty.
It is necessary to know why Quran is so sensitive on Adl. Why Adl is so important that it is the purpose of Prophethood, descension of book, Aql and also for power? This is because of the status of Adl in the system which Allah has made for salvation of human being. Man can only reach the purpose of creation only under Adl and without Adl man cannot reach that purpose. There are traditions as well that this Hadid has to be used by the Hakim, Imam for establishing Adl. The way Allah has promised and all religions believe that a time will come whereby a global uprising will start and the system of Adalat will get established. For Shias it is the reappearance of Imam (a.t.f.s) and the dominance of system of Imamat and all these means would be used to establish Adl. The way Prophet (s) said that my son will reappear and fill the land with Adl, and he will use these means only to establish Adl.
Sermon 2
The first loss due to lack of Taqwa is of humanity. If humanity ends then the body that remains is not human but beast, Shaitan and much more destructive then Shaitan. The human society becomes insecure without Taqwa where barbarism gets developed in society and man turned into beasts. The current human generation is where we should focus because we are accountable for what we are doing. In the mirror of history if we see human generation now the humanity of this generation has become very lowly. The means, capital, technology, comfort and everything is much better in this generation but from humanity perspective they are quite backward. We should look for human beings apart from divinely aroused personalities like Prophets and Imams today as well in past. Maulana Rumi says that an intellectual person was finding something across the town with a lantern in broad daylight. We asked him what are you looking for? He replied I am tired of these beasts, insects and trying to find human being. As per Rumi we said you are doing useless thing, because we and many others have tried but could not find. He replied, the one whom you could not find I am desirous of the same. There is a believe that he would be there somewhere on earth because Allah has said I have made human on this earth. If you try to find human being on this earth now you won’t find, in the past you will be able to find humans like Allama Iqbal, Rumi, Imam Khomeini (r.a). The more you go in past you will see humans but the more the population grows you would not find. This is because the constitution for forming human beings has been abandoned, that is religion. The desires, lust, selfishness has taken the place of this constitution. What is the proof that we cannot find human being? Try to find in every segment of our society? If someone claims that there are many human beings, then they should be assessed on Meezan. What is that Meezan to test that humanity? The situation of oppression on earth is the scale for assessing human being. The barbarism that is happening today in Gaza day and night, see how many human beings are living. Try to find man in secular world of rulers, scientists. The big names which are around us try to find how many are human beings. The rush on this earth is not of human beings.
A tradition of Imam Sadiq (a) whereby he was on Hajj. Zohri said so many Hajis this year. Imam (a) said that there is only noise and not Hajis. Then Imam (a) demonstrated the scene and he confessed. If the veils from our Aql and heart gets uncovered then we will realize that human beings are not there. If there were humans then they would have done effective arrangement to stop this oppression. The only president of South Africa seems to be human being who has started an international tribunal to stop this oppression. America has rejected the ceasefire resolution third time using Veto powers. In every country the embassies, institutes of America are running like normal. Is there anyone who has developed hatred towards them? Instead, the love for these have increased more. There is no reaction from anywhere. The way Imam Hussain (a) called the scholars and said if something touches your personal interest you make big noise but when the limits of Allah are transgressed in front of your eyes but you do not even speak out. The biggest tragedy more than Gaza is the lack of humanity in these 8 billion. Those who are dying in Gaza will get rewarded by Allah but these other dead bodies are a tragedy. This has never been seen in history. This is the effect of mixing up with corrupt people, the distancing from Allah kills the humanity and man just turns into dead bodies. We pray to Allah to destroy America, Israel.
