How useful is the ceasefire in Yemen?

As Yemeni sources spoke of the ceasefire in recent days and put it into operation, coalition forces announced their commitment to the ceasefire as of 6 a.m. today.

Analysis:
Faraan: Saudi Arabia and its allies, who are not as big as they think they are and insist on continuing the aggression against Yemen in the shadow of the coalition concept, accepted the ceasefire today, claiming that the ceasefire is an opportunity for success in international peace talks. However, in the 7-year history of the Yemeni war, we can find many cases of ceasefire proposals that have either not been accepted by the Saudis and their partners, or that have been repeatedly violated after their acceptance (as it happened a few years ago in Al-Hudaidah).

Today, the Coalition welcomed the ceasefire, with representatives of the Gulf Cooperation Council, the United States, the European Union and the United Nations in Riyadh, and of course, in their opinion, discussing the issue of Yemen and the solution to end it. This is while the Yemeni National Salvation Government has no representative sent in this meeting. The reason as to why Ansarullah has no representative in this meeting is due to the fact that, firstly, it does not consider the meeting to be just. Secondly, it considers the venue of the meeting as ground to favor the aggressors. Finally, it has suspicions in regards to most of the participants.

From Ansarullah’s point of view, most of the countries bordering the Persian Gulf, both in declaration and in practice, have not shied away from any hostility against the Yemeni people over the past 7 years, along with the UAE and Saudi Arabia. On the other hand, the European Union, as the United States in foreign policy, has never had a positive view of the Yemeni government of national salvation. They are thinking of finding a solution to bring the Saudis out of the Yemeni swamp with dignity. However, due to the various, frequent hostilities between the Saudis and the UAE against the people of Yemen, the seriousness and power of the Yemenis in punishing the Saudis and the UAE has increased day by day. On the other hand, not a particle has been affected on the will of the Yemenis. Additionally, considering the history of past fires from the third side, there is no hope that this period will be effective enough. Nonetheless, maybe this ceasefire can at least facilitate the exchange of prisoners between them, which is being talked about seriously these days.

The bottom line is that despite all the distrust in the effectiveness of such fires in Yemen, in this period Saudi Arabia and the UAE and of course others are trying to find a way to prevent the eruption of their Yemeni anger in the eighth year of the war. In the last months of the seventh year of the war, Ansarullah greatly affected Aramco with its occasional attacks, and did not shy away from punishing Abu Dhabi. And of course these days it has firmly declared that the eighth year of the war is the year of “transformation in defense measures” and the year of “initiatives and surprises”.
