Institute Presentation: The Gush Emunim Zionist Organization

Perhaps the most salient feature of the Gush Emunim organization is its extensive Jewish settlement program, which it has implemented in part and is working to implement larger programs. The organization’s nomadic operations have been active in the occupied territories since its inception in 1967.
Faraan: Gush Emunim [1] is a Hebrew phrase meaning “group of believers” and the name of the Zionist movement with religious backgrounds. The members of this movement are obliged to meet all the criteria of a true Zionist. This movement is not a party, but an extremist nomadic Zionist movement that is committed to nothing but defending the land of Israel.
The movement was formally established after the October 1973 war and at the end of the winter of 1974, after a number of members of the National Religious Party (Mafdal) [2] disobeyed the party leadership. However, the real establishment of this movement was after June 1967.
From the very beginning of this organization, its members have been intimidating the Arab residents in order to drive the Arabs out of the occupied territories and replace them with the Jewish settlers. All the members of this organization have decades of experience in terrorist activities. [3]
This movement considers the maintenance and preservation of the occupied territories within the framework of the state of Israel as a divine duty in which human or practical considerations do not interfere. Although the organization speaks of the resurrection of the Jews in all areas, it has focused all its efforts on migration and settlement operations, and its most important goal is the non-return of the Arabs to the West Bank. In other words, this organization is doing its best to strengthen the Zionist policy of maintaining the status quo by establishing Israeli settlements. [4]
In the course of Gush Emunim’s life as a widespread nomadic movement, several nomadic organizations emerged that shared the characteristics of the mother movement. One of them is the Amana Organization. The Amana Organization is the name of a town established in the summer of 1967 by the Gush Emunim Movement. Shortly after its formation, an organizational constituency emerged that was able to form twelve Jewish constituencies. [5]
The Nikoda Magazine in Hebrew and Counterpoint Magazine in English are the publishers of this group’s ideology. Some experts believe that the Gush Emunim movement has been dissolved; Nevertheless, the fact is that the name of Gush Emunim may have been dissolved, but their thinking and outlook are alive and they are even more active in their Zionist activities than before.
