The senior adviser of the foreign minister said in the meeting with the representative of Italy: “Iran supports any ceasefire and peace initiative that will end the suffering of the Yemeni people and establish lasting peace and security.”

Faraan: Petruzella, the special representative of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Yemen and Afghanistan, met with Ali Asghar Khaji, the senior advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs on special political affairs, on Sunday and the two sides discussed the latest developments related to the Yemen crisis and the peace process. In this meeting, the parties evaluated the latest situation of the ceasefire in Yemen and emphasized the necessity of implementing the provisions of the ceasefire agreement, especially humanitarian issues.

In this meeting, while explaining the mediation and humanitarian efforts of the Islamic Republic of Iran in ending the imposed war against the defenseless and oppressed people of Yemen, as well as establishing a ceasefire and a just peace, Khaji said: “From the beginning, the Islamic Republic of Iran believed that the crisis in Yemen had no military solution and that the solution of this crisis should be done through Yemeni-Yemeni political dialogues.”

While emphasizing the need to urgently adopt a pragmatic strategy to resolve the Yemeni crisis, he noted that now is the time for the United Nations to make a decision to lift the economic blockade of the Yemeni people and strengthen the ceasefire. Khaji also stated: “The Islamic Republic of Iran supports any ceasefire and peace initiative that will end the suffering of the Yemeni people and establish lasting peace and security.”
