IS Fear of Hezbollah Missiles and Efforts to Prevent a Regional War

FARAAN: Following the “Majdal Shams” incident, where the Zionist regime is attempting to blame Hezbollah for the attack, Tel Aviv officials are hastily issuing threats against Lebanon to deny their own role in the attack.

The newspaper “Yedioth Ahronoth” wrote that predictions suggest the Israeli Security Cabinet will approve a strong response to Hezbollah, which could lead to several days of fighting beyond the usual rules of engagement. Yedioth Ahronoth noted that this response is not expected to lead to a full-scale war, and the international community is exerting pressure to prevent it from escalating into an all-out war.

The newspaper also mentioned that the Israeli Security Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, has identified targets for the attack on Lebanon, and assessments indicate that this response will be limited but strong. Channel 12 of the Hebrew-language television also reported that the Security Cabinet has tasked Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Galant with deciding on the response to Hezbollah.

The American television network CNN, citing a knowledgeable Western official, claimed that there is no doubt Hezbollah is responsible for the attack on Majdal Shams in the occupied Golan, but it is not believed that the attack was intentional.

CNN also noted that Israel is expected to respond, but it does not intend to escalate the conflict into a large-scale war. Simultaneously, the American website “Axios,” citing American and Israeli officials, reported that a full-scale war between Israel and Hezbollah would lead to a regional conflict. According to Axios, Washington has warned Israel that attacking Hezbollah targets in Beirut could spiral out of control.

US Concerns About Hezbollah’s Response

The website, quoting an American official, suggested that an Israeli army attack on Beirut is a potential red line for Hezbollah. “Amos Hochstein,” the American special envoy, expressed concern that if Israel attacks Beirut, Hezbollah will launch long-range missiles at occupied Palestine. However, the Hebrew-language newspaper “Haaretz,” quoting Western diplomats, reported that significant efforts are being made to prevent the outbreak of a regional war, including pressure on the Lebanese government to convince Hezbollah to stop escalating tensions.

Haaretz, citing political sources in the Zionist regime, reported that the likelihood of significant escalation between Israel and Hezbollah largely depends on Hezbollah’s response to the imminent attack by the Zionist regime on Lebanon, and we must wait and see. These sources added that the US and France are working to dissuade Israel from targeting Beirut or other major cities in response to the Majdal Shams incident.

Nevertheless, Lebanese Foreign Minister “Abdallah Bou Habib,” in an interview with “Al-Jadeed” TV, announced that Lebanon has received assurances from “relevant parties” that Israel’s response to the Majdal Shams attack will be “limited.” Bou Habib emphasized that Hezbollah’s response to any escalation by Israel will also be limited. On Saturday, a rocket hit the Druze village of Majdal Shams in the occupied Golan Heights, killing 12 people aged between 10 and 20.

The Zionist regime claimed that the rocket was fired from an area in northern “Shebaa” in Lebanon. Meanwhile, the Lebanese government has called for an investigation into this attack. Hezbollah, in a statement, denied any involvement in the rocket attack on Majdal Shams, stating that the Islamic resistance of Lebanon had no connection with the incident and strongly rejected the false accusations in this regard. Eyewitnesses and media sources suggest that it was likely an interceptor missile from the “Iron Dome” system that landed in the Golan, causing the casualties and injuries among the Zionists.
