Israeli forces have shot and killed a young Palestinian man in Tel Aviv, deep inside the Israeli-occupied territories, over an alleged stabbing attack.
The Israel Police claimed in a statement that the Palestinian man had stabbed a man on Levontin Street on Saturday afternoon, seriously injuring him, before being shot and killed by an armed settler at the scene.
The injured settler, a man in his 30s, was taken to Ichilov Hospital in serious condition. The hospital later said his condition was stable and there was no threat to his life.
Kan TV News, the Israeli public broadcaster, identified the Palestinian man as Salah Yahya, 19, from the northern West Bank city of Tulkarm.
A statement from the police said they were looking into the circumstances of the incident.
The alleged stabbing attack occurred just hours before the Gaza ceasefire between Israel and the Hamas resistance movement took effect.
The Israeli regime was forced to agree to the ceasefire deal, accepting Hamas’ longstanding negotiation terms.
