During a joint press conference with his Syrian counterpart in Moscow, the Russian Foreign Minister called the attacks of the Zionist regime on Syria alarming, condemned the continuation of these aggressions and asked Tel Aviv to respect international laws.
Faraan: On Tuesday), the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov participated in a joint press conference with his Syrian counterpart, Faisal Meqdad, who went to Moscow. As the first speaker at this press conference, Lavrov said: “We presented an evaluation report on the situation in Syria and emphasized the importance of the return of refugees and the non-politicization of this issue by Western countries.”
According to “Sputnik” news agency, he stressed about the military aggression of the Zionist regime in Syria: “The bombing of Syrian territories by Israel is worrying and we have asked Israel to respect international laws.” The head of the Russian diplomatic service added: “We condemn the Israeli attacks on Syrian territory and express our concern about the continued targeting of critical facilities in Syria, as happened at Damascus International Airport.”
According to this report, Lavrov also said about the resolution of the Syrian crisis: “We discussed the actions of the United States in Syria, especially in the field of supporting separatist groups. We reject any foreign interference in Syrian affairs and emphasize the need for a political solution to the crisis in Syria.”
Regarding the decision of a number of Arab countries to resume diplomatic relations with Damascus, the Russian Foreign Minister said: “We are satisfied with the return of relations between Syria and a number of Arab countries.” Thanking Syria for supporting Russia’s special military operations in the Donbas region, Lavrov said: “We value Syria’s commitment to the freedom of self-determination of the people and the recognition of the Donetsk and Luhansk republics.”
According to “Ryanvosti” website, he also stressed about possible Turkish military operations in northern Syria: “It is important not to allow new military operations inside Syria.” The Russian Foreign Minister also added: “We are ready to help improve relations between Syria and the rest of the Arab countries. We seek to develop bilateral relations between Russia and Syria.”
In another part of his speech, Lavrov stated that he will meet Hossein Amirabdollahian, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in the near future. In a part of his speech at this meeting, Lavrov emphasized: “We are waiting to see when the Americans will respond regarding Iran’s nuclear case. A year has passed, but they still haven’t announced a single truth about this.”
The Russian Foreign Minister noted: “Moscow has announced its agreement with the final version of the JCPOA revival agreements.” He also said about the cooperation between Iran, Russia and Turkey regarding the Syrian crisis that the results of the Tehran meeting and the agreements of the Astana process will be implemented.
