In a meeting held on Wednesday evening (February 17), Mehdi Sobhani, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Damascus, and “Geir Pederson”, Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Syria, had a discussion.
Faraan: During the meeting, which took place at the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Damascus, the latest political situation related to the Syrian crisis and the political process of its settlement were brought to the table.
In a speech, Sobhani emphasized the territorial integrity and national sovereignty of Syria and called for the withdrawal of foreign troops who are illegally present in Syria. He also stressed that the lifting of sanctions against Syria will help resolve the Syrian crisis politically. During the meeting, Patterson also briefed our ambassador on his talks with Syrian officials.
