Russian ambassador in Damascus strongly criticizes the Israeli airstrikes on Syria

The Russian ambassador in Damascus strongly criticized the Israeli airstrikes on Syria, saying that the aim of these attacks was to increase tensions and allow the West to carry out military activities in Syria.

Faraan: The Israeli newspaper, The Jerusalem Post wrote in a report: Alexander Afimov, Russia’s ambassador to Syria, warned of Israeli airstrikes in Syria, saying that these attacks are aimed at “provoking” Russia to respond.
This statement was the strongest condemnation of Russia for the Zionist military operations in Syria.

“The remarks come at a time when Russia is launching a military offensive against Ukraine and has been condemned by Israeli authorities,” the newspaper said. Israel has already sent thousands of humanitarian aid to Ukraine and opened a field hospital in the country. “We have to strike a balance between our security interests in Syria and our cooperation with Russia. On the other hand, we have moral obligations to Russia’s attack on Ukraine.” Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid told a meeting at Richman University yesterday.

He added: “We have condemned the attack and sent a field hospital to Ukraine, but we must also avoid the possibility of an Israeli pilot being shot down and imprisoned in Syria. What do you think this will do to Israeli society? How relevant is this to our national security?” Earlier this month, the Russian embassy in the Zionist regime said in a statement that the military cooperation with Tel Aviv in Syria was continuing: “Our military officials coordinate operational issues on a daily basis. This mechanism has proven to be useful and will continue.”

According to a report released by Russia’s Interfax news agency on the promise of the Russian Ministry of Defense in early January this year, the Syrian and Russian fighter jets are jointly patrolling Syrian airspace, including in the Golan Heights, and plan to continue these flights on a regular basis. In February, Russia announced at a UN Security Council meeting that it would not recognize Zionist rule in the Golan Heights.

The last Israeli airstrike on Syria took place on March 7 in an area near Damascus Airport, during which two members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran were martyred. The Revolutionary Guards also stressed in a statement a few days later that the Zionist regime would undoubtedly pay the price for such crimes, and in deed they paid heavily for that with their Mossad base rocketed heavily in Erbil, Iraq.
