Six prisoners exchanged from Sanaa forces in southern Yemen

As the end of the UN-declared ceasefire in Yemen approaches, Sanaa announced a successful operation to exchange prisoners of war in the country.

Faraan: Abdul Qadir Al-Murtada, Chairman of the National Committee for the Captivity of Sanaa, announced on Wednesday evening the successful exchange of prisoners.

According to Al-Masira, Abdul Qadir al-Murtada announced without giving further details that six prisoners of the Yemeni army and popular committees had been released as part of a prisoner exchange operation in Shabwa province. The remarks came as Saudi Arabia had previously expelled Yemeni workers and released them as Sanaa prisoners instead of releasing Yemeni prisoners under an agreement mediated by a UN envoy.

“Saudi Arabia sent workers to Aden, not prisoners,” said the head of the Yemeni National Committee for the Captivity. “The behavior of the Saudis is intentional and contains malicious intentions.” Al-Murtada added: “Saudi Arabia is trying to improve its image with unrealistic humanitarian initiatives. It is also trying to accuse Yemen of using foreign elements in the army and the Yemeni People’s Committees.”

The Yemeni official also stressed that the UAE and Saudi Arabia are responsible for this action, noting that the Saudi coalition is also using the United Nations to its advantage, and that the organization is in a miserable situation. Al-Dilami stressed that the United Nations must maintain its neutrality, stressing that kidnapping Yemeni nationals and capturing them is a big problem, and that the UN’s participation in the show is disgraceful.
