Faraan Zionist Research Base; Hebrew-language sources reported that Tel Aviv was carrying out an investigation regarding the Yemeni army’s attack on Abu Dhabi due to fear of similar attacks on the occupied territories.
The Hebrew-language Kan 11 channel reported on Tuesday that Tel Aviv was investigating reports of a Sanaa drone strike on Abu Dhabi due to fears of a similar attack on the occupied Palestine.
The Arab 48 news website quoted Kan 11 saying: “One of the scenarios that Israel is afraid of is an attack with suicide drones and missiles fired from Yemen. The distance between Yemen and Abu Dhabi is similar to the distance between Yemen and the city of Eilat in the southernmost point of Israel. This attack demonstrates the Houthis’ advanced capabilities.”
After repeated warnings from Sanaa to Abu Dhabi regarding its interference in Yemen’s internal affairs and trying to escalate tensions in the country, on Tuesday, the Emirati media reported that parts of the country had been targeted by drones.
Before the attack, Mohammed al-Bakhiti, a member of the Yemeni Ansarullah movement’s political bureau, told Al-Arabi: “There is a deal between Saudi Arabia and the UAE. According to this deal, Saudi Arabia will take over all the southern provinces of Yemen, including Shabwa. It will then hand them over to the UAE, and in return, the UAE will use all its military capabilities as in the past [in Yemen].”
Al-Bakhiti warned: “We advise the UAE to cease its acts of tension, because if this tension continues, Yemen will be compelled to attack deep inside its territory. We are in a state of war.”
After the warning, the media sources reported on Monday, January 17th that three oil tankers exploded and caught fire in the Al-Masfa area of the UAE. Al-Masfa is an industrial area located southwest of Abu Dhabi in the UAE.
An hour later, Yemeni Armed Forces spokesman, Brigadier General Yahya al-Sari, officially announced that Yemeni forces had targeted Dubai and Abu Dhabi airports with missiles and drones.
After this attack, Israeli Foreign Minister, Yair Lapid, wrote on his Twitter account yesterday: “I strongly condemn today’s drone strike in Abu Dhabi and offer my deep condolences to the families of those killed and wish the injured a speedy recovery. We stand with the UAE.”
Earlier, the Vala news website reported on the drone capability of the Yemeni army and popular committees that the drone strike by the Yemeni army and popular committees had affected strategic facilities in Saudi Arabia, Tel Aviv and the West.
The Vala news reported that the drone strike carried out by the Yemeni army and popular committees in 2019 against the Saudi company Aramco at the time ‘shocked Israel and the West.’
This Hebrew-language source added that the quality of the drones used in the attack and the manner in which Aramco was targeted had surprised the Israeli and Western intelligence services and sounded the alarm for them.
The website specifically made reference to the UAV attack on Aramco on September 14, 2019.
Based on the Yemeni army and popular committees, a total of 17 drones were utilized in the 2019 attack on the Saudi company Aramco in the Baqiq and Kharis areas of eastern Saudi Arabia, which resulted in widespread fires in a large part of the two Aramco refinery complexes. Based on reports from the Saudi Interior Ministry, the facility was closed until repairs were carried out.
