Tel Aviv’s first official reaction to developments in eastern Ukraine

In the first official reaction to the developments in Ukraine, the spokesman of the Israeli Foreign Ministry stated that the regime supports the territorial security and sovereignty of Ukraine.

Faraan: Israeli Foreign Ministry spokesman Lior Haiat also reacted to the developments in eastern Ukraine, expressing concern over Russia’s recognition of the Luhansk and Donetsk regions in eastern Ukraine.

“Israel supports the territorial security and sovereignty of Ukraine and is concerned about the actions taken in the east of the country,” she wrote in a Twitter message. In a series of tweets about developments in Ukraine, Haiat offered to help resolve the Ukraine issue, writing: “Israel shares the international community’s concerns about the steps taken in eastern Ukraine and the serious escalation of the situation, and hopes for a diplomatic solution that will lead to calmness, and it is ready to help if requested.”

Expressing concern over the situation of the Zionists and Jews living in eastern Ukraine, the Zionist official continued: “Israel supports the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine. Israel is concerned about the well-being of thousands of Israeli citizens living in Ukraine and the well-being of the large Jewish community in Ukraine.”

“Israel is ready and willing to immediately transfer humanitarian aid to Ukraine based on its needs, and it is in contact with the Ukrainian authorities in this regard,” Haiat wrote, expressing readiness for Israeli humanitarian aid to Ukraine. “Israel continues to talk to its partners about ways to get diplomatic efforts back on track,” she concluded.

Following Russia’s decision to recognize the self-proclaimed republics of Donetsk and Luhansk and to send troops to these regions, European and Western countries have intensified pressure on Russia to isolate the country.
