FARAAN: Dr. Muhammad Abu Salimah, the head of al-Shifa hospital in Gaza, before he was arrested by the Zionist forces, revealed that the soldiers of this regime took the bodies of several martyrs from the area of al-Shifa hospital during the attack on Gaza. Analysis:
Stealing the bodies and some body parts of Palestinian martyrs, such as skin, bones, corneal heart valves and other usable organs, by the Zionist regime is not a new thing. This regime has been doing the same for decades. Abdul Nasser Farwaneh, the head of the studies and documents department of the Council of Palestinian Prisoners and Freed Persons, announced that the Zionist regime still has 400 bodies of Palestinian and non-Palestinian Arab martyrs who were martyred in different circumstances and times. He points out that in the list of martyrs confiscated by the occupying regime, there are names that were martyred in the seventies of the last century until around 2023.
The theft of martyrs’ bodies and the presence of cemeteries with only numbers written on them, which are known as numbered cemeteries, and the prevention of the Zionist regime’s authorities from viewing the bodies of martyrs by their families to the body delivery regiment, have raised questions about the cause of such behaviors. Some have considered the cause of these behaviors to be the Zionist regime’s attempt to humiliate the martyrs and their families or to exchange them for the prisoners and corpses of the Zionist soldiers. But later it became clear that the real cause of this behavior is much more horrible than these words.
Although the Palestinian circles have condemned these barbaric crimes for a long time, their voices were not heard until 2001, when Donald Bostrom, a Swedish journalist and researcher, published an investigative report on the theft of the body parts of Palestinian martyrs and their sale by the regime. This was the first time that this crime was revealed to the international public.
Dr. Mayer Weiss, an Israeli anthropologist, has pointed to a similar result in a book titled “On Their Dead Bodies.” In this book, referring to the theft of the body parts of Palestinian martyrs, he stated that from 1996 to 2002, he was present at the Forensic Research Center known as “Abu Kabir” in Tel Aviv for the purpose of conducting scientific research. He has seen how the body parts, especially the body parts of the Palestinian martyrs, were stolen, while the Israeli bodies were not harmed in the slightest.
The interesting thing to note is that the Zionist regime has the largest skin bank in the world, this bank is even bigger than the American Skin Bank, which was established 40 years before the Israeli Skin Bank, and despite the difference in population between America and the regime Zionist, human skin reserves in this regime reach 170 square meters. Yehuda Hayes, the former director of the Center for Forensic Studies in the Occupied Palestine, in a candid confession in a 2009 documentary about the incident, openly admitted to stealing the organs of Palestinian martyrs at the institute under his management. He said: “We used to remove skin, heart valves, bones and so on (from the bodies of the Palestinian martyrs). All these things were done completely confidentially and unofficially without obtaining permission from the families.”
The Mediterranean Human Rights Watch has announced that the Zionist regime’s army also destroyed the mass cemetery of the martyrs who were buried 10 days ago in Al-Shafa Hospital and took the bodies of the martyrs with them. This human rights center states that the doctors in Gaza, while examining the bodies of the martyrs, noticed that some of their body organs were stolen, such as the cornea of the eye and the cochlea, and some other vital organs such as the liver, kidney, and heart.
