The first flight of Sanaa airport has been postponed after a 6-year shutdown

Yemeni Airlines announced the cancellation of the first commercial flight to Jordan today (Sunday) after a six-year closure of Sanaa International Airport.

Faraan: Yemeni Airlines announced on its official Facebook page that the first flight to Jordan today (Sunday) after a six-year closure of Sanaa International Airport was postponed.

The airline said it had not received permits for its first flight from Sanaa International Airport to Amman, the Jordanian capital, which was scheduled to take off at 8am local time today. Al-Yamaniyah reported that it had taken steps to reserve passengers for the flight, which was safe for the transfer of patients and passengers from Sanaa, and that all technical preparations for the flight, including coordination of arrival and departure times from the runway.

Yemeni Airlines expressed its deep regret for the passengers for not being allowed to make the first flight from Sanaa Airport, and expressed hope that all problems would be resolved in the near future and that the company would be allowed to resume flights from Sanaa.

The Yemeni National Salvation Government announced on Wednesday that it had received UN approval for the first commercial flight from Sanaa Airport to Jordan’s Al-Mulk Aliya Airport for Sunday, April 24 at 8:00 AM, and that Yemeni Airlines was booking tickets for the flight will begin and the priority at this stage will be for patients.
In response, the resigned Yemeni Minister of Information claimed in a tweet: “We hold Ansarullah fully responsible for the failure of the first commercial flight from Sanaa Airport. They did not abide by the agreement to approve passports issued by the ‘legitimate’ government.”

Meanwhile, the head of the Yemeni Airlines, affiliated with the National Salvation Government, stressed that the (Arab anti-Yemeni) coalition has waived its obligations and refused to issue a commercial airport license.
