The Zionist regime has made extensive efforts to develop Zionist settlements in the Syrian Golan Heights and the extensive settlement of Jews in the region to prevent any further action by the Syrian government, whether in war or peace, to retake the region.
Faraan: At the same time, the Zionist regime continues its military aggression on Syrian soil in the form of air strikes. The regime is always afraid of losing the Golan Heights, which is why it is intensifying its aggression and attacks on its territory as much as possible.
The last attempt of the current Zionist government – which is on the verge of collapse – is related to the past six months dating back to late December 2021, when it tried to determine the future of settlements in the region. It has also increased investment in the region and launched large projects. “The government of the occupying regime intends to launch several major projects in the region under the Golan Vision, including the Golan Vision plan,” wrote Dimi Abirtsev, chairman of the Katserin ghetto town council in the occupied Golan. He referred to the veterinary hospital and the Odem program to recruit young people from different regions in the technological units of the army and the regime’s security forces.
He added: “Israel’s attention to the Golan Heights requires the development of major investment plans and the increase of settlements. The Ministry of Housing has recently tendered the construction of 1,560 housing units in a new neighborhood in these settlements.” Zionist political and military circles agree on the need to continue occupying the Golan Heights and not to retreat from it under any circumstances, because first of all, this region gives military superiority to this regime and makes tens of kilometers of heights inside Syria available to this regime. And secondly, the geography of most of the occupied areas in the Golan Heights is such that the Syrian army’s artillery range does not reach it.
Also, the high natural geography of this region does not allow the movement of armored vehicles, tanks and personnel carriers, which means that if the Syrian army wants to take action, it must cross difficult and narrow routes that are under enemy fire. However, the Zionist regime, despite all the preparations and planning for the Golan Heights and pursuing a policy of repression, assassination and detention against the Syrian citizens of this region, has not been able to force the people of this region to participate in the parliamentary and local elections. The international community has also not recognized the regime’s domination of the Golan Heights and acknowledges that the region belongs to Syria and that the regime should seek a solution similar to the one it signed with Jordan and Egypt; But the Syrian government and people are not satisfied except for the full return of the Golan. And this area will not return to its original owner sooner or later.
