The Israeli army claimed that this aggression was carried out in response to the launch of an anti-aircraft missile towards the occupied territories and its explosion in the air. However, Syrian official and local sources confirmed that these invaders targeted civilian areas.
This is Israel’s first military aggression against Syria after Russia’s response to the regime’s attacks on Damascus International Airport. Following these attacks last June, Russia asked the Security Council to issue a resolution condemning the attack on the airport. Such a position of Russia caused concern to Israel, and this regime considered it a sign of escalation of tension with Moscow, and the question was raised in political and military circles in Tel Aviv whether this regime has lost its freedom of action in any aggression against the countries of the region.
