The Zionists strongly oppose the establishment of a Palestinian state in the West Bank

Although the Zionist authorities disagree on everything, they agree that the establishment of an independent Palestinian state in the West Bank is not possible.

Faraan: Faris Sarfandi, a correspondent of Al-Alam Network in the West Bank, wrote in a note about the views of the Zionist authorities on the West Bank: Israeli officials have different views on many issues, except when it comes to the West Bank and the formation of an independent Palestinian state, which they all from the right parties to the left and the middle, they have a single point of view and that is opposition.

For the Israelis, the Palestinian state on the borders of June 4 and specifically in the West Bank means the end of their existence and the negation of their presence in Palestine. And it is for this reason, in the best case, the occupying regime may agree to a government in the Gaza Strip. The West Bank should remain at least a security zone and dependent on this regime, but the question that arises is why the West Bank?

The answer to this question from the point of view of the Israelis is very unpopular for us considering the future they have in mind. The security of the West Bank means the strategic depth of the occupying regime, the same strategic depth that Benjamin Netanyahu spoke about more than fifteen years ago, when he first became prime minister and said, “One helicopter will take Palestine at the widest geographical point between Jordan and the Mediterranean Sea, in 15 minutes, who will accept that its strategic depth is less than this?

This statement shows that the Israeli authorities are looking to deal with possible aggression from the eastern borders of Palestine to the western borders, i.e the Mediterranean Sea. In addition, the settlements that are being built in the West Bank every day, one after the other, are not for the purpose of settling the settlers, but for the purpose of creating human barriers between the Palestinian cities. These settlements prevent Palestinian cities from being geographically connected and at the same time they prevent the establishment of the independent Palestinian state that Palestinians dream of.

Why the West Bank? Because the West Bank is the point of contact and the closest area to the occupied areas of 1948. In some areas, there is only a few meters between the Palestinian areas and the occupied areas, and in some areas, the air distance between some villages and Ben Gurion Airport is only three or four kilometers.  And this is where we should remember Netanyahu’s words in a book called “A Place Under the Sun” that he writes “He will never allow any Palestinian to stand on top of the Ramallah mountains and target Ben-Gurion Airport with rocket launchers.” This is apart from the forced disconnection of Palestinians and Israelis in many streets and settlements.

Why the West Bank? Because the West Bank is a water and food reserve. Agwar region, which constitutes more than 22% of the area of the West Bank, is considered a real food basket for the West Bank and the occupied areas in 1948. Moreover, the two main sources of water in Palestine are located in the West Bank, i.e. the western source and the eastern source. When Tel Aviv built the separation wall, it struggled to annex these two resources to the occupied territories.

Now that we understand why the West Bank, it’s time to look to the future. The fact is that in Tel Aviv they are looking for a solution. This is because whether they want it or not, the West Bank is known as an occupied area and this issue cannot be changed except through an agreement or treaty to end its occupation for the world.

This is despite the fact that the reality cannot be changed, and Donald Trump’s plan entitled “Deal of the Century” was for this purpose, although there are other plans, for example, confederation with Jordan, although the King of Jordan has repeatedly rejected and emphasized this idea that any relations with the Palestinians will be determined after the establishment of the Palestinian state.

Also, another plan is an economic solution in a way that guarantees a better economic reality for the Palestinians against giving up on the idea of an independent state, or even a plan that allows Palestinians to reside in the West Bank and all over Palestine with a special birth certificate for the city of Quds, and to travel without having any political or civil rights.

All these plans may be proposed in the future, however, it is up to the Palestinians to accept partial solutions after 74 years of struggle or to pursue their rights even though it is accompanied by difficulties and hardships.
