Turkey once again shelled northeastern Syria

Turkish army forces once again shelled the city of al-Qamishli in northeastern Syria. According to the Syrian state news agency (SANA), local Syrian sources said: “Turkish forces and armed groups supported by this country fired several mortars that hit residential houses in al-Hamaqiyya neighborhood in Al-Qamishli city.”

Faraan: This shelling caused material damage and displaced tens of families. Yesterday, Turkish army forces targeted the towns and villages of Abu Rasin region in the northwestern rift of al-Hasaka with artillery units, causing financial damage to citizens’ houses and property.

The artillery attacks of the Turkish army and the terrorist groups supported by Ankara intensified while President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced early last June that his country will soon start an operation to establish a safe zone 30 kilometers deep inside Syria. In contrast to Syria, he emphasized that “Turkey’s threats to the so-called safe zone operation in northern Syria are in conflict with the results and outputs of the Astana meeting”.

High-ranking officials of Russia and the United States have previously expressed their opposition to Turkey’s military operations in northern Syria several times in their official statements and asked Ankara to find a peaceful solution to the situation in Syria. In recent days, Turkish officials have repeatedly spoken about the possibility of starting a new round of attacks on northern Syria and announced their readiness in this regard, and these statements raise concerns about the re-ignition of conflicts in northern Syria between the different parties present in it and the emergence of It has caused problems for the people of these areas.

On the other hand, Turkey is carrying out its attacks on northern Syria while the UN Security Council condemned Turkey’s attacks on northern Iraq in its extraordinary meeting on Tuesday night. The recent Turkish airstrikes in the Kurdistan region of Iraq left 8 dead and more than 20 injured.
