Yemeni forces have released the crew of the Emirati ship Rawabi, which entered Yemeni waters illegally last January.
Faraan: Yemeni Ansar al-Islami forces released the crew of a detained Emirati ship called the Rawabi on Monday.
In January 2022, the UAE claimed that Ansarullah had hijacked a UAE ship carrying medicines in the Red Sea.
On January 3, Ansar al-Maliki, a spokesman for the Saudi coalition, announced that Ansar al-Islam had “hijacked” a cargo ship flying the UAE flag in the Red Sea.
A coalition spokesman claimed that the ship, called Rawabi, was carrying hospital equipment and had been attacked between the island of Socotra in southern Yemen and the Saudi port of Jazan. However, after the seizure of the Emirati ship, the Yemeni Armed Forces released videos and images showing that the seized ship was carrying weapons and military equipment.
“Our forces were monitoring the Emirati ship, which was transporting various quantities of weapons,” said Yahya Sari, a spokesman for the Yemeni Armed Forces. “The ship was carrying various military equipment that was to be used against the Yemeni people,” he added.
